One of Takaoka city's main industries is Takaoka copperware, which includes products made of tin, brass, and bronze. Artisans were invited to Takaoka about 400 years ago.
We will one of workshops and interact with artisans directyly.
Local residents continue to work their paddy fields in an effort to maintain their farming practices despite a declining population due to damage to houses and warehouses caused by earthquake and heavy rains in 2024. Rice planting requires lots of people who can help it. Many volunteers from all over Japan come to the area to support. The tour offers the opportunity to experience rice planting in the area where machinery cannot reach.
We can hold the tea ceremony, which is a unique Japanese culture. The host traditionally prepares for the ceremony and serves tea to guests who are invited.
Its culture that integrates etiquette, spirituality, space, utensils, and Japanese sweets.
Traditional Japanese sweets are typically served with matcha tea during tea ceremonies.
The basic sweets consist of sweet red bean paste wrapped in the rice cake skin.
Guests can wrap the filling in the skin and decorate them and can enjoy the sweets with tea.
Guests can see around in the oldest distillery making whisky in the Hokuriku area.
Guests can make an own 700ml-bottle by yourself by taking out the whisky from a barrel.
Takoyaki making is a Japanese cuisine culture. Takoyaki is made from wheat flour. (It can be changed rice flour.)
Using the machine, handmade fried ball are formed by using sticks. Typical ingredient is the octopus.

National treasure
Zuiryuji was built in 1663.
It was built for a feudal lord Maeda to mourn him by his brother. Maeda was the founder of Takaoka city.
There are some traditional buildings which are designated as national treasures.
National treasure
Shokoji was established in 1471. The temple consists of 12 buildings.
Among them, the main hall, the reception hall, and the entrance hall are designated as national treasures.
Mt. Futagami is a local mountain located in the suburbs of Takaoka city. There is abundant nature. Local residents often hike for having their relaxing time.
There are some attractions like a huge statue of goddess of mercy, observatory, and a huge bell named "Piece bell."

Takaoka city was originally developed as a castle town by a feudal lord Maeda, 400 years ago.
Kanayamachi town is known as the birthplace of Takaoka copperware and it flourished.
Guests can understand how to make the metal item and try to make own sake cups.

Yamacho district is the general term of which consists of 10 towns in Takaoka. Yamacho-suji street is one of streets of Yamacho district.
Guests can appreciate the atmosphere of the town with traditional unique houses which equipped with fire-resistant construction.
